Take Me Out Of The Ordinary
Original artwork by Carina Chambers
90 x 70 x 3.5cm | Acrylic, oil pastels & oil stick on canvas | Framed in natural timber
A humble scene transformed by light, elevated into something so completely out of the ordinary by the final blush of sunset.
This piece is inspired by the golden magic of summer dusk on the farm. I named it after the Alex Warren song Ordinary, which I had on repeat in the studio and during walks through the paddocks. It became the quiet anthem of this painting, familiar, steady, and full of heart.
At the centre is one of the old gums on our property, a tree I’ve passed a thousand times but never quite seen like this. Its foliage came to life in vivid pinks, ochres, greens and inky blues, set beneath a sky melting into hot pink and dusky lavender. The light did something extraordinary that day, and I tried to distill that feeling on canvas.
Built up in layers of acrylic, oil pastels, and oil stick, this semi-abstract landscape is rich in texture and warmth. It celebrates the beauty of the bush just as the day exhales into night.
This is for those who love native flora, dramatic skies, and art that captures a fleeting moment. Framed in a natural timber float frame, it’s ready to hang.
