Our Colours Will Fade Eventually
Original artwork by Carina Chambers
58cm x 66cm | Acrylic, oil pastels & oil stick on canvas | Framed in natural timber

This painting is for those who crave colour, who see stories in the everyday landscape, and who believe in moments that lift you above the ordinary.
“Our colours will fade eventually, so if our time is running out—day after day—we’ll make the mundane our masterpiece.” – Alex Warren, 'Ordinary'.

Our Colours Will Fade Eventually is a luminous, joy-filled celebration of colour and possibility. Inspired by Warren’s lyrics, this piece is my invitation to see beauty in the everyday - to lift the veil on the mundane and turn it into something quietly magnificent. After all, life is short.

This radiant gum tree stands like a spark in the paddock, leaning into the landscape, its canopy alive with brilliant saffron, coral, peony pink, and rich ultramarine. The tree glows from within, its white trunk and cobalt shadows grounded in soft lavender grasses and golden paddocks. Behind it, a delicate sky of powder blue and pastel blush seems to hum with warmth, casting a serene, dreamlike glow over the whole scene. Beneath it, nestled in the roots and grasses, is the soft suggestion of a hidden home. I often wonder— who lives down there?

Layered in acrylic, oil pastels and oil stick, this semi-abstract landscape pulses with joy, optimism and emotional energy. Every brushstroke was a reminder to lean into joy, to notice light, and to find something extraordinary in even the most familiar of views.
