We Were Talking to the Sunset
Original artwork by Carina Chambers
30cm x 60cm | Acrylic, oil pastels & oil stick on canvas | Framed in natural timber

Named after a lyric from Alex Warren’s Carry You Home, this work is a quiet, heart-led reflection on those fleeting moments that stay with us. It’s about memory, presence, and the way the light sometimes feels like it’s listening.

This piece unfolded slowly, like a conversation at golden hour. Inspired by long walks with my dog Butter across the farm, it captures the stillness I often find at the edge of the day. The elongated format lets the land stretch out, rows of soft, glowing gums catching the low sun, their lavender shadows spilling across the paddock.

The sky is delicate yet dynamic—washed in soft peach, apricot gold, and muted lavender—casting the entire landscape in warm, reflective light. There’s a gentle hush here, but also a quiet intensity. A feeling that something meaningful is being shared, whispered on the wind as it stirs the leaves.

Layered with acrylic, oil pastels and oil stick, this semi-abstract Australian landscape is rich in texture and feeling. It’s an expansive, contemplative piece that invites you to pause, breathe, and listen.

Wanna Feel The Heat With Somebody
Original artwork by Carina Chambers
50cm x 40cm  | Acrylic, oil pastels & oil stick on canvas | Framed in natural timber

Named after Whitney Houston’s iconic anthem and painted while listening to it on repeat, Wanna Feel The Heat With Somebody is my tribute to connection, freedom, and the rush of Autumn light spilling across the land.

I painted this piece during a string of cold Autumn mornings in my studio in cool-climate Orange. It was born from mad dancing between brushstrokes - part survival, part joy. The irony of craving warmth while in my freezing studio wasn’t lost on me, and that playful tension hums through every layer.

This expressive Australian landscape features a trio of sunlit gum trees spread across a golden paddock. Their foliage, dappled in warm ochre, soft blush, and leafy green, catches the late afternoon light in full celebration. The sky above is awash with dreamy blues, corals and lavender, glowing as if charged with music and memory. Flecks of pink and light shimmer across the trunks and grass, as if the warmth of the day still lingers just beneath the surface.

This scene is drawn from memory, moments stitched together from time spent walking my dog Butter across the farm, and it’s a joyful nod to those golden hour evenings when the air feels alive with warmth and possibility. Built up with layers of acrylic, oil pastels and oil stick, this semi-abstract work is textured, vibrant, and full of feeling.
