The Impressionistic texture in this Australian-based landscape is my invitation for you to feel the sun's warmth and cool south-easterly breeze of a summer day on our farm, surrounded by big old gum trees. This fleeting moment was re-created from memory in my studio later that day. I can still recall resting under the cool shade of this evocatively posed Gum Tree, while Fleetwood Mac thumped in my ears, reminding me to "Go Your Own Way."
Using dots and strokes of greens, yellows and touches of blue and pink, I hope to evoke the dappled light filtering through the branches of that fleeting moment. The ground and distant hills are built up with glazed layers to capture the contrast of light and shadow, hot and cold, bringing the essence of this contemporary Australian landscape painting to life.
