I adore the poplars around our farm. They look so rigid at first glance but they mange to weather all the storms that roll through.
Within this artwork I wanted to capture the transition and energy from a sunny autumn day before an Autumn storm breaks across the scene.
The tall golden poplars stand resilient, bending in the headwinds as a storm approaches, their long shadows stretching across the sunlit paddocks. The swirling blue sky, charged with the storm’s arrival, contrasts sharply with the warm, earthy tones of the land below.
The scene captures the tension between movement and stillness, vastness and intimacy, as nature prepares for change. The title, inspired by Ed Sheeran’s “Overpass Graffiti ,” acknowledges the significance of these fleeting moments - a quiet reminder that such beauty in these moments is never lost on me.
