While walking around our farm, I’ve been struck by the unique forms that old gum trees develop over time, shaped by years of exposure to Australia’s harsh elements. One tree in particular caught my eye—it had been struck by lightning many years ago. Although the tree has long since healed, it proudly displays the scars from that trauma, standing resilient and tall. In contrast, the younger, intertwined trees to its right are just beginning their journey (ahhh young love!).
